Skinny-front-tire dressers are getting to be quite the rage in certain UV locales these days, but the usual route to get to one of these stylish rides is to start with a dresser and convert over to a 21 or 23 inch tire up front. The boys at Trask Performance took a different route to nirvana on the open road. Instead of taking the dowdy functionality of a dresser and trying to pimp it out, they took the inherent cool of a Softail and added the comforts of a dresser. You sit "in" a Softail, something no amount of modifications would ever cure on a more upright dresser.

The Trask Performance horsepower competition began over five years ago at Arizona Bike Week. It started as a way for our customers to showcase their horsepower upgrades, proving we were able to do what we said we could do, taking their stock Harley’s from 60 up to 120 horsepower or more.

Fuel injection (FI) systems have been around since the 1950’s and became widely used in cars during the 80’s. By the 1990’s all cars sold in the United States were equipped with FI systems, and though motorcycle manufacturers have included FI systems with some models as early as 1982, it isn’t until recently that the industry has seen wide spread use of FI. Since a lot of people come into my shop with questions about FI, I thought I would point out some of the differences between FI and carbureted systems as well as the benefits and disadvantages of both.

There is no substitute for cubic inch displacement when you’re talking about making power and having a lot of low end torque. Of course, you can use power adders – turbo chargers, superchargers,and nitrous – and these are effective in making more power, but old school upgrades rely on naturally aspirated systems and that’s where big bore kits come in.
